VAT rate increase
On 1 January 2010, the rate of UK standard VAT will change from 15% back to 17.5%.
It is important that you update your SALONGENIUS system to ensure that the sales tax is correctly calculated. You should NOT edit your existing 15% VAT Rate and change it to 17.5% otherwise all your sales for the 2009 period will display at the new rate.
To help make the transition seamless we have produced a little utility which you can download and run. Ideally you should do this at the first opportunity in January 2010 before you start trading. However if you forget and start trading don't worry. This utility will also recalculate VAT on your sales from the 1st January 2010.
Click this link to download the utility in a 'zip' file. Once it is downloaded you can simply open it (double click) and then extract the file contained within. This file can then in turn be opened (double click) and you will see the main program window (shown below).
By default only Stock 'Cost Prices' will be increased, however some manufacturers may be altering their pricing so check with your rep. If you want to update your Service and Products 'Retail Price' then put a tick in the appropriate box. Also note the rounding feature which can ensure your new RRP's don't end up being 'odd prices' e.g. £12.83
Once you are happy with the settings click on 'Update Stock and Service Records'.
If you have started trading on the 1st January 2010 or any date there after before updating your VAT, you should also click 'Recalculate Sales Tax'. NOTE: Do NOT change the 'Effective from' setting.
If you need help with any of this process then do call Support on 0871 424 0152 but please bear in mind we are expecting many of our Customers to call and we will be very busy.
Finally we wish you and your staff a very Happy Christmas and New Year from all at SALONGENIUS, all the best for 2010.
